Having already discovered a 6.5 million ounce resource including the world-class Gruyere deposit, Gold Road Resources (ASX: GOR) is about to embark on a massive 2018 exploration campaign across the broader Yamarna Belt in Western Australia’s north-eastern Goldfields.
As Gold Road general manager geology John Donaldson points out, the first focus of this year’s Yamarna exploration strategy is to further define the highly promising Ibanez play in the North Yamarna project area and follow up several exciting targets in the South Yamarna region.
Gold Road has allocated a $22.4 million budget for exploration across its massive 6000 sqkm Yamarna tenement holding, making it arguably the biggest greenfields gold exploration program in Australia. The program will include 165,500m of drilling – air core, RC and diamond holes.
Gold Road’s technical team spent a Summer of Fun in Perth assessing the outcome of the successful 2017 campaign – during which 167,026m were drilled – to prioritise targets and devise the 2018 program before returning to the Yamarna Belt for the resumption of field work.
