Gold Road Resources (ASX:GOR) has appointed well-known Western Australian businesswoman Sharon Warburton to the Board as an independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Company’s Audit and Risk Committee. Ms Warburton is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand. She currently sits on the boards of Fortescue Metals Group, Western Power and Wellard Limited.
Gold Road Resources Limited (Gold Road or the Company) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sharon Warburton as an Independent Non‐executive Director to the Board of Gold Road and Chair of the Company’s Audit and Risk Committee.
Sharon has deep experience in the construction, mining, resources, real estate and infrastructure sectors from her work across Australia, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Sharon is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and has held a variety of senior executive roles with Brookfield Multiplex and senior finance roles with Citigroup and Rio Tinto.
Sharon currently sits on the board of Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and is a Curtin University Business School Asia Business Centre Advisory Board member.
In 2014 Sharon was named Western Australian Telstra Business Woman of the Year, and in 2015 the Financial Review Westpac 100 Women of Influence finalist. Sharon is the Patron of the Curtin University Women in MBA scholarship Programme and a Business Champion for the Australian Government New Colombo Plan initiative.
Sharon is a Non‐executive Director, Chair of the Remuneration and Nominations Committee and member of the Audit and Risk Committee at Fortescue Metals Group. She is a Director and member of the Audit and Risk Committee at Western Power; a Non‐executive Director, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Nominations Committee at Wellard Limited; and a part time member of the Takeovers Panel.
Gold Road’s Executive Chairman, Ian Murray welcomed the appointment of Ms Warburton to the Board with effect from 9 May 2016. “We are pleased to have Sharon join us at this stage of the Company’s development and we look forward to her contribution”.
Director Retirement
Gold Road also wishes to advise that our longest standing director, Mr Russell Davis will step down as a Non‐executive Director of the Company effective 30 June 2016.
Russell was a founding Director and is a shareholder of the Company. Russell has been a Director since May 2004, was Executive Exploration Director to 1 January 2008 and subsequently as a Non‐ executive Director.
The Board would like to thank Russell for his vision in consolidating the Yamarna belt tenements under one owner and listing Gold Road in 2006, together with his valued contribution to the Board, and his commitment to the Company over the past ten years. The Board wishes him well with his future endeavours.
