Danakali Limited (ASX:DNK) has appointed highly experienced potash and mining executive Robert G Connochie to its board as a Non-Executive Director. Mr Connochie has spent his entire career in the mining industry and brings extensive senior line management experience from the potash industry specifically including in the areas of corporate development, evaluations, marketing, financing and acquisitions.
Danakali (ASX:DNK) advises that the Colluli Mining Share Company has been awarded Mining Licenses for exploitation of resources within the Colluli tenements. This follows the signing of a Mining Agreement with the Eritrean Ministry of Energy and Mines. The Mining Agreement provides exclusive access to CMSC over the 1.3 billon tonne Colluli potassium resource and associated minerals, while seven mining licenses were awarded which cover 60km2 and represent 60 years of the 200-year mine life.
Danakali Limited and its joint venture partner, the Eritrean National Mining Corporation (ENAMCO), continued its focus on developing the World Class Colluli Potash Project during the December quarter, with significant work completed to positively progress all aspects of the project located in the in the Danakil basin in Eritrea.

Danakali (ASX:DNK) has finalised the front end engineering design (FEED) and optimisation team for the Colluli Potash Project with the appointment of Knight Piesold (KP) and Elemental Engineering (EE). KP has a strong understanding of the Colluli project through its work on the prefeasibility and definitive feasibility studies. EE also worked on both studies and provides world-leading process simulation and process development services to the minerals processing industry.
Danakali (ASX:DNK) has announced Global Potash Solutions' (GPS) appointment to the front end engineering design & optimisation team for the Colluli Potash Project. GPS has extensive technical and operational experience in the global potash industry and provides independent technical services. GPS oversaw the metallurgical test program, process flowsheet development and initial optimisation work for Colluli throughout the PFS and DFS phases. GPS will work closely with FEED contractor Fluor.
Danakali (ASX:DNK) has initiated the bidding process for power generation for the Colluli potash project following completion of the EOI phase, which attracted a variety of international providers. The shortlisted parties will now bid in a competitive tendering process based on the technical specifications determined in the DFS. These specifications will be refined following the front end engineering design process and evaluation is expected to be completed by April.
Danakali has announced Fluor to lead the front end engineering design and optimisation process for the Colluli project in Eritrea. Managing Director Paul Donaldson said the combination of Fluor's values, people, reputation, approach and specific experience would benefit the project as it progresses towards construction. Colluli is one of the most advanced greenfield sulphate of potash projects globally and demonstrates outstanding economics, proximity to key markets and product diversification.
The Eritrean Ministry of Land, Water and Environment has approved Danakali's Social and Environmental Impact Assessment for the Colluli project, paving the way for final project development approvals. Managing Director Paul Donaldson said this was a significant step in the approvals process and the outcome of a comprehensive body of work conducted through the feasibility phase. Danakali continues to progress its Mining Agreement and License, and is confident this step will be concluded shortly.
Danakali reported milestones in the September quarter at the Colluli Potash Project in Eritrea, where focus was maintained on completing the Mining License approval process. The Company is well advanced in this regard, having submitted a Social & Environmental Impact Assessment; Social & Environmental Management Plans; and completed second round stakeholder engagement work. Danakali also completed the EOI process for the EPC contract, including a site visit to Colluli for short-listed bidders.
