Zenith Minerals (ASX: ZNC) has commenced a program of initial metallurgical test on REE samples from the Company’s 100% owned Laramie REE project in Wyoming USA.
• Initial metallurgical test work has commenced to determine if simple mineral separation techniques will allow upgrading through concentration of the REE minerals at the Company’s 100% owned Laramie REE project located in Wyoming, USA;
• Initial petrographic study completed by Zenith indicates REEs occur as the mineral allanite. Allanite crystals observed are generally relatively coarse grained (0.4mm to 2.5mm) with distinct mineral grains indicating potential for easy liberation from the syenite host rock (ZNC ASX Release 14th Nov 2019);
• Zenith surface rock grab sampling returned REE mineralisation with TREO (Total Rare Earth Oxide) grades up to 0.60% whilst widespread, continuous REE mineralisation confirmed in all of nine recently announced systematic chip sample traverses (ZNC ASX Release 6th Nov 2019), including: 80m @ 0.40% TREO and 137m @ 0.37% TREO, indicating potential for large tonnages;
• and Test work is anticipated to be completed by late January 2020.
A 100kg bulk composite surface rock sample will be subject to a series of tests to determine if simple magnetic and/or gravity beneficiation techniques at coarse grainsizes can easily upgrade the concentration of REE minerals and reject gangue minerals.
The work is being completed by Nagrom at its Western Australian metallurgical test work facility. Results are anticipated to be available in late January 2020.
