Zenith Minerals (ASX:ZNC) has released its March Quarterly Report, with the main focus for the quarter being exploration at the Split Rocks project in WA. Anomalous nickel-cobalt, lithium and gold assays were returned from various prospects within the project. RAB, airecore and RC drilling is planned for Split Rocks in the June quarter.
Split Rocks Lithium-Gold-Cobalt Project – WA
Zenith’s maiden drill program (104 aircore holes) at the Dulcie Prospect intersected highgrade near surface cobalt-nickel-scandium mineralisation, pegmatites with anomalous lithium as well as strong gold results.
Significant cobalt – nickel – scandium drill results from initial composite samples from the Dulcie Prospect include: 12m @ 0.27% cobalt and 1.45% nickel and 30m @ 0.06% cobalt and 0.75% nickel whilst scandium intercepts included: 4m @ 190ppm Sc & 8m @ 105ppm Sc. Follow-up drilling planned May 2018.
Anomalous lithium bearing pegmatites (results up to 2m @ 0.12%Li2O) were intersected over 950m of strike. Associated caesium and rubidium results confirm the presence of prospective pegmatites only 40 km north of Kidman Resources Limited’s (ASX:KDR) Earl Grey lithium pegmatite deposit. RC drill testing planned for May 2018.
Significant gold mineralisation was also intersected in several drill holes in the south of the prospect area. Results from initial composite samples comprised: 30m @ 0.6g/t gold, including 4m @ 3.28g/t gold and 3m @ 4.32g/t gold to end of hole. Follow-up drilling planned May 2018.
Large scale lithium geochemical anomalies were extended by further surface sampling. Preparation for drill testing of these lithium soil targets is in progress (drill access permits submitted, earth moving contractor booked). Note surface sampling for lithium to date covers less than 10% of the Company’s Split Rocks project area. Further systematic sampling (>1000 samples) commenced in late April.
Waratah Well Lithium Tantalum Project – WA
Systematic soil sampling completed during the quarter defined coherent zones of anomalous lithium with subsequent follow-up mapping and rock chip sampling returning high-grade lithium and tantalum up to 1.75% Li2O and 769ppm Ta2O5.
American Lithium JV
Burro Creek Lithium Clay Project – Arizona USA
Trenching and resource drilling of extensive lithium rich clay deposit at Burro Creek is planned to commence in early May 2018.
Upcoming Activities on Zenith Projects
