Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX: NST) has appointed experienced mining executive Marnie Finlayson as an independent non-executive director, effective from 1 October 2022.
Ms Finlayson is a senior executive at Rio Tinto and holds the position of managing director, battery minerals. Prior to her current role, Ms Finlayson was general manager of Rio Tinto Minerals’ Jadar operation in Serbia and before that held senior operational and executive positions in Rio Tinto’s Iron Ore business.
Ms Finlayson holds a Bachelor of Engineering – Minerals Engineering and Extractive Metallurgy (Hons) from the Western Australian School of Mines at Curtin University in Kalgoorlie.
Her appointment brings the number of directors on the Northern Star board to eight, of whom seven are non-executive.

“Marnie’s knowledge as a minerals engineer with international experience in the management of significant projects will be particularly valuable as the company advances delivery of our five-year growth plan, which is structured to generate superior returns from our world-class assets.”
