West Australian gold explorer Focus Minerals (ASX: FML) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard O’Shannassy as an independent non-executive director of the company, effective immediately.
Mr O’Shannassy has more than 35 years of experience as a commercial lawyer and has served on mining industry committees over a number of years, including being a member of the Energy & Resources Law Association.
Mr O’Shannassy was general counsel and company secretary at Hardman Resources and a non-executive director of Avenira (formerly Minemakers) for eight years.
He fills a vacancy created by the appointment earlier this month of non-executive director Rod Johns to the position of Focus’ chief operating officer.
Commenting on Mr O’Shannassy’s appointment, Focus executive chairman Wanghong Yang said:
“I am delighted that Richard has agreed to join the board of Focus Minerals. His appointment will further strengthen the overall board skills as Focus is working towards bringing Coolgardie gold project back into production.”
