Emerging West African gold explorer Golden Rim Resources (ASX: GMR) has revealed a new intercept of 10m at 4.1g/t gold at its Red Hill prospect, which is part of its wholly-owned Kouri gold project in Burkina Faso. The intercept was obtained 40m beneath a previous intercept of 11m at 3.4g/t gold from 16m. The results at Red Hill represent the best gold mineralisation located at the prospect to-date.
Highlights:
-
RC drilling at Red Hill outlines further strike and depth extensions to the gold mineralisation.
-
A new intercept of 10m at 4.1g/t gold (NKRC054) obtained 40m beneath a previous intercept of 11m at 3.4g/t gold (NKRC047). This mineralisation appears to show excellent continuity and remains open at depth.
-
Closely spaced gold intercepts of 2m at 2.6g/t gold, 3m at 2.1g/t gold and 9m at 1.0g/t gold (NKRC052) obtained 100m along strike from the gold mineralisation intersected in holes NKRC054 and NKRC047.
-
All drill holes targeting the major shear-related magnetic high anomalies at Red Hill have intersected gold mineralisation.
-
Considerable scope to delineate further gold mineralisation at Red Hill with systematic drilling along the magnetic anomalies.
-
Gold mineralisation at Red Hill lies under shallow cover and trenching will to commence shortly to confirm the orientation of the mineralisation prior to further drilling.
Emerging West African gold explorer, Golden Rim Resources Ltd (ASX: GMR) (Golden Rim or the Company), is pleased to provide the results from further reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Red Hill satellite gold prospect within its 100% owned Kouri Gold Project (Kouri) in Burkina Faso. Red Hill is located 4.5km southwest of the Kouri 1.4Moz gold Mineral Resource (Figure 1).
The new follow-up RC drilling at Red Hill comprises four holes (NKRC51 – NKRC54) for 480m. Hole details are provided in Table 1 and significant assay results are listed in Table 2. Hole locations are depicted on Figure 2.
A new intercept of 10m at 4.1g/t gold from 46m (NKRC054) was obtained 40m beneath a previous intercept of 11m at 3.4g/t gold from 16m (NKRC047). The mineralised zone is clearly distinguishable in drill chips and appears to have excellent down-dip continuity.
The gold mineralisation intersected in holes NKRC054 and NKRC047 is the best gold mineralisation located to date at Red Hill and is situated at the intersection between two major shear zones and their associated magnetic high anomalies. The mineralisation remains open at depth and along strike.
New drill holes completed 100m to the east of NKRC054 and NKRC047 intersected a series of closely spaced parallel gold zones. Intercepts include: 2m at 2.6g/t gold from 29m, 3m at 2.1g/t gold from 36m, and 9m at 1.0g/t gold from 53m (NKRC052). Previous drilling intersected 7m at 1.9g/t gold (NKRC046) 500m along one of the magnetic anomalies to the northwest, and 9m at 0.7g/t gold (NKRC050) 600m along the other magnetic anomaly to the southwest.
All the drill holes that have targeted these major shear-related magnetic high anomalies at Red Hill have intersected gold mineralisation. The magnetic anomalies are extensive and are believed to be associated with cross-cutting shear zones that form part of the highly prospective Samira Hill Fault system that extends for 40km through Kouri.
