Northern Minerals (ASX: NTU) has commenced an 1800m RC drilling program at Browns Range, part of the final stages as the Pilot Plant investment decision nears. The program will test the margins of the starter pits, establish water monitoring bores as well as testing a new prospect called Banshee South. The final investment decision is expected in mid-Q1 2017.

Australian heavy rare earths developer, Northern Minerals Limited (ASX: NTU) is pleased to announce that it has commenced an 1,800 metre RC drilling campaign at Browns Range, as it finalises studies towards a Final Investment Decision in mid-Q1 2017.
The RC drilling campaign has three main focuses: Firstly, drilling will occur within the central, western and eastern Gambit first stage open pits, in areas where shallow infill drilling isrequired; secondly, the Company will drill eight groundwater monitoring bores, which will be used for environmental monitoring during the Pilot Plant phase; and finally, the Company will take the opportunity to complete a first-pass drill test of a high priority exploration target at Banshee South.
Banshee South, located 10 kilometres south of the proposed Browns Range Pilot Plant, was identified by soil, rock chip sampling and channel sampling, which confirmed heavy rare earth mineralisation.
The drilling program is an important step in enabling the Company to meet its targeted mid-Q1 timeframe for final project approval.
