Leading national mining and civil contractor NRW Holdings (ASX: NWH) has continued its run of contract wins, with its Queensland-based unit Golding securing a $55 million contract to upgrade a section of the Mackay ring round.
The scope of the contract, awarded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads, includes upgrading a 400m section of the Bruce Highway from a two-lane undivided carriageway to a four-lane divided carriageway. Major components of the works comprise:
- Widening the existing Bruce Highway to accommodate additional lanes;
- Building new rail overpass over existing rail line;
- Building two new road overpasses; and
- Realignment of Bald Hill Road and Bruce Highway intersection and reconstructing 170m of Bald Hill Road.
The contract is valued at $55 million. Construction is scheduled to commence in late October, with an anticipated completion date of May 2024.
“Golding has a long history of successfully delivering Department of Transport and Main Roads Projects within Central and Northern Queensland and we are excited to be working with the Department to deliver this critical project in Mackay,” NRW managing director Jules Pemberton said.
