Executive appointments complete Core’s leadership team, Perth office leased

  • 6 July

Australian lithium miner Core Lithium (ASX: CXO) today announced the appointments of Pierre Malan as Executive General Manager (EGM), Development and Exploration and Paul Benjamin as EGM, Commercial and Marketing, and the registration of its new head office in Perth, Western Australia.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Core completes a 10-month recruitment process which has established the executive team to drive the next phase of its business
  • Registered office in Perth, Western Australia finalised

Appointment of new leadership team members

The appointments of Mr Malan and Mr Benjamin are the culmination of a 10-month recruitment process to build an executive leadership team with the requisite operational, commercial and development capabilities to maximise value from Core’s asset base, pursue growth initiatives and guide the transition from developer to miner and operator of the Finniss Lithium Operation in the Northern Territory.

Mr Malan has been appointed to focus on Core’s exploration portfolio potential and define the best strategy for developing the Company’s assets. He is a well-credentialed mining executive with more than 30 years experience leading operations and developing complex projects from exploration to mining in Australia and abroad. He holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering and a Master of Engineering Management. Mr Malan will commence his role with Core in August 2023.

Mr Benjamin has been appointed to focus on maximising value from Core’s lithium products and to develop the Company’s strategy in the broader lithium value chain. He brings more than 25 years experience and a demonstrated track record developing and managing commercial and strategic relationships in major global markets and within the rechargeable battery materials industry. Paul brings experience from working across production, research and development, marketing and business development for mining companies in Australia, Asia and Europe. Mr Benjamin commences his role with Core in July 2023.

Core Lithium CEO Gareth Manderson said:

“I am pleased to welcome Paul and Pierre into these two key roles with the Core Lithium team. Their appointments are the culmination of a 10-month process to build an executive team with the skillsets and capability required to drive growth from this young business.”

“The transition from developer to miner requires us to strategically assess and reset our outlook for the business. Core’s executive team is now equipped with the capabilities to guide the business through this next phase of development as we finalise commissioning, ramp up toward steady state operations and pursue mine life expansion through targeted and systematic drilling across our leases.”

Executive team focused on delivering for shareholders

Core’s executive team and flat structure will drive performance from four value levers:

  1. Sustainability – part of the battery/EV supply chain, operating safely and responsibly, respecting our people and the community to deliver a valued product
  2. Delivery – safety, operational and financial performance
  3. Growth – discovery, business development and downstream processing
  4. Commercial – product sales and broader market strategy

Registered office change

Core’s registered office and principal administrative office will be Level 9, 2 Mill Street, Perth, WA 6000 from 11 July 2023. Perth is the corporate centre of Australia’s lithium industry and provides Core with good access to mining service providers, particularly those with lithium industry experience and a deep pool of mining and project delivery talent.

The Company’s new postal address will be PO Box 7890, Perth, WA 6850.

Core’s telephone number will remain +61 (8) 8317 1700.
